![]() I cannot tell a lie, I like poetry and dabble in it a bit myself but mostly for those special moments; you know when your husband or wife least expects something like that from you - "a closet romantic" is what she calls me. But my poetry skills do not compare to those of Kiana Donae, she has taken - let me say it in a way to better help you understand where I'm coming from - my like for poetry and turned it into love. Love & Ink Vol. II Reflections is the second book in this poetry series, yeap poetry series; Kiana Donae's first book Love & Ink changed the way I read, viewed, felt, and overall thought poetry should or had to be. Description: A personal journey of reflections in poetic form. Poems in this collection are intuitive, passionate, and many explore issues of today that are social in nature. Reflections will enter your mind and cause you to view yourself in the mirror of the writings. What do you see in your reflection? ![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. Kiana Donae's pen being like a parasite took from her very soul the pain, the fear, the joy, and thoughts and blotched it all on paper to create the masterpiece, Love & Ink Vol. II Reflections, which I was given for free for an honest review. Kiana dug deep and let it us see what was in her heart, soul and mind; from current events happening in the world today to events from her own life. I have a few favorites like New Slaves, A Sub Love, Broken Pieces - Part 1 & 2, and the oh so true Hustler, which spoke to me personally. Really, there is not a poem in this collection that I did not like and if you are a true poetry fanatic as I have become because of this series, I am sure you will enjoy it also. Kiana Donae is brave, bold, exotic, and if she lived in the days wild, wild west they would have labeled her as the most revered ink slinger this side of the Mississippi. Now I will end this review with this, when the great Maya Angelou passed away her spirited stayed and know communes with Kiana Donae - may you keep delivering us these wonderful works of art. ![]() I don't know where to begin, but I will tell you this: BEST BOOK EVER!!! I kid you not, as I have read plenty of detective novels and Twice as Fatal is up there with the best of the best. Just as before I must compare Jarvis Mann to Stanley Hasting a character created by Parnell Hall, but Jarvis is quite the opposite; he has no fear, well he does not show it, he carries a gun and oh yeah Jarvis Mann can go toe to toe with any of his adversaries even if they are 6ft tall and ripped like a linebacker. If you are a sucker for a great sleuth adventure then Twice as Fatal is the cure. I received a free copy for an honest review. Description: Twice the business, twice the danger and Twice as Fatal. PI Jarvis Mann has two cases he is working, making his professional and personal life twice as difficult. Ray Malone is a promising college football star whose career is derailed by injuries. When he disappears, close friend Jarvis is recruited by Ray’s father to locate him. After tracking him down a video is sent of Ray with the warning of it going public, threatening his career and those that love him. Case two has landlord Kate Tanner hiring Jarvis to gather evidence against her cheating, thieving husband so she can divorce him. As Jarvis investigates he learns of the husband’s connection to a powerful man, with a dangerously perverted agenda that crosses into Kate’s life with deadly consequences. Across the Rocky Mountain Front Range Jarvis tries to balance both cases, each dragging him deeper into different sleazy underworlds, jeopardizing him, his clients and their families. With danger and death all around him, he somehow must rescue everyone before this fatal business claims the lives of all involved, his life and the one he is growing to love. ![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. I am hooked, R Weir you did it again. I am not going to spoil it for the True Believers, as Stan Lee would say "Excelsior!" I am sure that I could navigate through some of the streets of Colorado just by the vivid and very detailed descriptions provided by R. Weir. The plot is incredible with twists and turns. The characters are also well developed and the description of them gives you a perfect image of them and makes it easier to see the words you read flow like a movie on the screen. This round Jarvis may have bitten off more than he can chew; two cases, trying to mend a relationship, two sets of muscle bound thugs that can't wait to get their hands on him and R. Weir brings Jarvis' world to you the only way he knows how - fast and hard. Mark my word, we will be seeing more of Jarvis Mann as this series will become a classic and may soon be on the big screen or turned into a TV series. ![]() Ok, ok I know that it has been a moment since I last posted a review and I do apologize. I have been somewhat busy in a few projects that I must say have turned out quite well. But enough about me, let me tell you about this jewel that was given to me to read for an honest review. Let me start by stating that I will be 42 this year and I still can't get enough of children books especially Time Sailors of Pizzolungo, it is so captivating that I am willing to bet that any adult would not put this book down and yes it is a must read for children of all ages; well for those that can read - parents please do read this to your wee little ones as this maybe one that will become the classic that they will want to hear over and over again. Description: Guillermo Infante always dreamed of sailing the high seas. As would any 6th grader whose father captained a ship out of the Sicilian village of Pizzolungo. But while that much could be expected, nobody could foresee what was about to happen to Guillermo, his younger sister and their friends when his dream finally comes true. Time Sailors of Pizzolungo follows the adventures of a group of young friends as they accidentally embark on an extraordinary voyage back in time to the Age of Exploration. Time Sailors of Pizzolungo: available at amazon.com
![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and I recommend that you add this book to your library. First, let me say that I did not expect or did I know what was in store for me when I began reading Time Sailors of Pizzolungo. If I wore hats, I would tip my hat to Scott Abrams and Adam Blockton, no let me tell the truth, I would toss it in the air as if it was graduation night. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The plot was well developed and yet simple enough for young children to follow and to keep the attention of an action starved adult. The characters were well developed and the authors added a bit of history, a touch of mystery and ton of adventure. This book is up there with Peter Pan and The Wreck of the Zanzibar by Michael Morpurgo as far as adventure and scenery. I can go on and on about Time Sailors of Pizzolungo, and I can't wait for the next episode. Oh yeah, - Scott and Adam please do not forget about me on premiere screening night when you guys are walking that red carpet. ![]() If you know me, you would know that I am not a big history fan, so I was a bit skeptical when I was given a chance to read Murder at Cirey: A Victor Constant Investigation, but it was in my genre; plus I love to read and boy was I glad that I did. I am sure that you will to. Description: Police-procedural murder mystery that enters the lists of historical crime with shock and suspense. Eight days in spring, 1735: a race against crime. When a handsome young man is shot dead on an estate in the picturesque Champagne region of France, Victor Constant, military policeman, determines to find out why. But no one else, including the local magistrate, seems willing to penetrate the mystery of this brutal death. Alone and against orders, Victor confronts the notorious free-thinker, Voltaire, who found the body. Victor fights to protect the innocent and bring the real killer to justice. A second murder occurs and Victor's task becomes doubly dangerous: unless he can strip bare the conspiracy behind this intricate series of crimes, he stands to lose his military career--and his life. The first in the series of Victor Constant Mysteries, starring a tough military policeman who has all the audacity of a Jack Reacher. Murder at Cirey: A Victor Constant Investigation - available at amazon.com
![]() This novel is rated as Investigator – meaning it is very good and I recommend that you read this book. I must say I was very impressed with the imagery of this book, I was swept back into the past, with the authors detail of the French culture, government, vivid descriptions of the countryside and architecture. The characters and plot are very well developed, and with a twist early in the story makes this a book that you do not want to put down. I must say that this was well written and with the added love triangle which could lead the reader into one direction as it even misdirects Constant's judgements about Voltaire, is just one great aspect of this novel. If you love a good mystery with a touch of history, then Murder at Cirey: A Victor Constant Investigation is the book for you. I do so hope to see more of Victor Constant, "The County Mounty" of his day and age - saddle up for more adventures. ![]() Yet another book that I had to add to my review list. If you have some little tikes in your life this book is a must. I got this book free for an honest review but I will be buying a hard copy for my granddaughter for her birthday. Description: Anky, the ankylosaurus, has one very special gift, but that gift also makes him very nervous and unsure of himself. Charged with having to return an egg home safely to his sister, Pooka, a lone purple tear escapes his dinosaur eye and he catches a glimpse of the future in it. That little flash, he calls a Daydream and he uses them to help when he and his friends go on adventures together. They can avoid predators and wild rivers, but the one thing they can't avoid is worrying his parents, if Anky doesn't get that egg home in time. Anky will have to build up his confidence and use his special gift to accomplish his mission or risk being in a whole lot of trouble at home. Anky The Daydreaming Dinosaur: The Lost Egg - available at amazon.com
![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. The ingredients: a dash of adventure, 2 friends, a loving family, a touch of fantasy, and oh yeah a heaping dalop of dinosaurs. Mix these all together and you get Anky The Daydreaming Dinosaur: The Lost Egg, a well illustrated and written children's book. The book is just the right length for your little tikes, especially the beginning reader and also for those who still love for us, the parents, to give them that nightly adventure that I received when I was a child. I believe this series will go far and I see a couple of spin-offs with ShiShi and Dippy the friends Anky made on his first adventure. Ashleigh Hanley is a very talented author, and that little flash I just had says that we will be seeing more of his adventures on children's bookshelves, kindles and smartphones all over the world. ![]() I have ran across a couple of books that are outside of the genre that I love so well and this is one of them. What can I say, I am an author myself and just as I would like for others to review my works; I decided to take the time to help out fellow writers by giving an honest review. Poetry was a hit and miss for me until I ran across Love & Ink. Now i see poetry in a new light, really feeling the passion, the rhythm, and not only seeing the writer's interpretation, but also finding my own experiences that can relate to the words this author bled onto her pages; the essence of her very soul forced on the cream pages through the greatest invention or tool known to mankind - the pen. Description: What happens when you bleed ink? You get poetry that paints pictures so vividly you can feel it. Love and Ink lures you in with it's innocence but when you come out at the end, you realize Love and Ink is not at all what you thought. Love and Ink isn't always black and white. Love & Ink - available at amazon.com
![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. Love & Ink is a great little collection of poetry. The poems are intriguing, exciting and some are down right sensual. The best way for me to describe it would be to say that Love and Ink is a roller coaster of passion. The author flowed the essence of her soul through her pen straight to the pages. I especially loved the work entitled "This Reality". I highly recommend this book. Pick up a copy even if you do not like poetry, I bet you will see poetry in a whole new way!!!. ![]() Description: When the federal agent Timothy J.Carter, undercover as an executive with an Ohio environmental firm, sets out to visit Stella Hunter, a disgraced academic, he expects to gain insight on possible causes of a recent outbreak of madness at a peaceful women's rally in Cairo. What he doesn't expect to hear is that a product of ancient myths and legends is causing these deadly riots. And that another crackpot academic spent ten years chasing after this mythological deity. But twenty-four hours later, when a peaceful rally at the Mall in Washington disintegrates into murderous riot that leaves hundreds dead and thousands injured. Carter is forced to consider the unthinkable: What if the product of ancient myths and legends somehow made it on to the US soil...? Ribbons of Death - available at amazon.com
![]() This novel is rated as Investigator – meaning it is very good and I recommend that you read this book. This book was a wonderful read but a bit slow at the beginning, but If you love myths and legends then this is the novel for you. Once I got passed the second chapter there was no stopping, I had to finish this book. See I love Indiana Jones and I must say that Ribbons of Death will cure the itch for some of you Dr. Henry Watson Jr. fans. The plot is well developed and the depth of descriptions of the places, people, and culture will teleport you to Cairo. The characters are well developed and the novel is well written. You don't have to take my word for it, get your copy today and be swept away on a grand adventure. I now am a fan of Edita A. ![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. This book satisfied my craving for a good detective novel. I do not want to spoil it for future readers but this book was well written with an outstanding plot. The twists and turns come at you often and I must tell you to please pay attention to details. R. Weir pulls you in with the main character Jarvis Mann, a very knowledgeable PI, carries a gun, very funny and knows how to handle himself in confrontational situations unlike one of my favorite characters, Stanley Hasting, created by Parnell Hall. The characters and plot where well developed. R. Weir used great imagery and description. Describing the scenery of Colorado and climate made me feel like was actually there. I am glad that R. Weir made this a series and can't wait to see what other adventures are in store for Jarvis Mann. ![]() Description: Discovering the body of a friend and colleague was not what Adina Donati had in mind when she moved to Washington D.C. in search of excitement. ![]() This novel is rated as Ace Detective – meaning it is a must read and needs to be added to your library. With that said, I must admit Think Murder by Cassidy Salem is a wonderful novel. I wish that this had been set up to be a series because I would love to read more. I could not stop reading and was disappointed that I had finished it; I wanted more. Salem captured what I call a classic detective/mystery case and I place this up there with other novels written by Agatha Christie, Henry Christopher Bailey, and Patricia Cornwell. This novel is well written and captivating; with well developed characters and plot. Without giving away or spoiling it for future readers I will just say I have been to Washington D.C. and if I had not after reading this book I would have sworn that I had. The author pulls you in by giving you a vivid description of the characters’ fashion and lifestyles which captures the essence that has drawn these individuals to this area in search of excitement the city. I believe Cassidy Salem will be on the New York bestsellers list in the future, because Think Murder is a fantastic read and I do expect great things to come. |
