My ideal writing space is my basement, at my computer desk. I do not mind anyone being around but I do want it QUIET - free from talking, but a bit of old school music playing in the background; which could range from the Isley Brothers, to The Bee Gees, to some of the 90's rap which could consist of gangsta or conscious rap. This gets my creative thoughts flowing - helping me to think of some of my childhood experiences mixed with some crazy, zany antics that just float around in my head. Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy being at a secluded cabin with the family, no phones, no television, and able to cast a line in a beautiful lake anytime I felt that writer's block invading my flow. But in the real world my budget doesn't allow such bliss - so for now the basement is my retreat. What is your ideal writing space? Drop a few lines.

My ideal writing space?! Anywhere I'm free from distractions. No one around, just me, a pen, a journal, some music and my thoughts. But for now, my writing space is anywhere inside my head I can tune out the everyday noises of my home. Oh and your fishing space sounds wonderful.

I often write in mornings or late evenings before bed, kicked back on the chaise in my living room with a cup of coffee or chamomile tea. I write almost everyday and mostly on my laptop, though, have been known to write whenever and where ever the Muse strikes; so anywhere really; on napkins, the backs of old receipts, or whatever I can find handy. The Muse (or inspiration) whatever you want to call it, will not be ignored - haha! That said, my writing habits don't wait for her to show up, and so that's why I always make a point to sit down on my chaise and write daily, in hopes that she does; and sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't. But I think what matters for the Writer is simply that we show up. ")
