We had a few family vacations when I was a child, but one stands out more so than others. It was a simple vacation to Memphis, TN. We went to see Graceland the home of Elvis Presley and we also cruised the great Mississippi River. As a bonus, we got to visit the Mud Island River Park and the Brooks Museum of Art, which are great under-rated places to visit. This is a great inexpensive vacation for a family on a budget. But please try to go in the spring or late summer, because the temperatures are a scorcher. If you can visit the Memphis Zoo while you are there please do so, the kids will enjoy it and so will you.

Unfortunately as a child we didn't take many family vacations, I can only recall 2 to be exact. One was a combo to Disney World, then Washington DC. The other which is my favorite was to Memphis, TN, we went for a family reunion. Getting to meet so many distant cousins and great aunts and uncles plus all of my dad's siblings and their kids came, it was pretty awesome.

Like I said in my initial post, "We had a few family vacations..." few many not many. But I do like meeting relatives and learning about family heritage; there are some relatives that I still have not met in person. Thank you for sharing your memories.
