August 11, 2014 - Your, The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch (Volume 1) (Paperback) is a book that young readers can relate to. I love the characters, and the plot is very interesting. Kia is a likeable girl who is smart and witty. Marcus is the little brother who will do whatever it takes to please his sister. What a pair! They don't have enemies, yet, and their parents are involved in their day-to-day activities. Did you eat and love PB&J sandwiches as a youngster? That was a marvelous idea. Mr. English is a cool English teacher, also. I like the fact too, that the story is just lengthy enough to keep attentions. Young readers, unless they are in the habit of reading often, look at a lengthy book and complain. You have the right and good things. 5-Stars - Great New Detective Series - August 8, 2014 - The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch (Kindle Edition) The Young Mystery Series by B.K. Maxwell is a new detective series following a sibling duo, Kia-9 years old and Marcus 8 years old. In The Missing Lunch, the story starts in the children's elementary school in a small Michigan town. My daughter and I really enjoyed this story. It is a classic fun detective story similar to Sherlock Holmes and Nancy Drew. B.K. Maxwell is a new force in the "kidlit" world. Good Morning, Mr Maxwell - July19, 2014 - The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch (Volume 1) (Paperback) Writing to tell you that your book is wonderful, Even though I heard a lot about the story while you were writing it;. Knowing about the story line and characters didn't take away the excitement when I was reading it. You have very vivid characters, they are exciting and real. The storyline is so good I can see it as if I am watching as movie as I read. There is always something going on, no dull moments. Because I know a lot about your childhood, most of the characters remind me of some of your childhood friends. At this time I can't figure out who Johnny was; maybe in your next book he will have a bigger role and I will be able to place him. But, I think I know who Big Mikey was. (Smile). Keep up the good work, Glad you are using the talent God gave you. Love, Mom.
5- Stars -Worlds Best Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Doesn't Disappoint, July 16, 2014 This review is from: The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch (Volume 1) (Paperback) I bought this book for my 11 year old granddaughter. I haven't given it to her yet, but that's because I sat down to read it myself. I enjoyed the characters. Their personalities are very well drawn and entertaining, and the family is fun loving and loving toward each other in a real life way, which was refreshing to read. The book kept my interest, and although I thought I knew "whodunit" part way through, I really had to finish the story to know for sure, and more importantly, to find out why the perpetrator was stealing the sandwiches. This might be a little bit young for an 11 year old who reads Hunger Games and fantasy books all day long, but should keep age 8-10 interested to the ending. I find myself now craving the worlds best peanut butter and jelly sandwich, somewhat like having always wanted to taste Turkish Delight from the Chronicles of Narnia! Looking forward to gifting this to Roxy, and will watch for further adventures from Kia and Marcus to come. Karen Stack http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A18O05IQ1QG0EH/ref=cm_cr_pr_pdp
5 Stars - Cute & Witty go hand in hand, along with some shenanigans!, June 18, 2014 This review is from: The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch (Volume 1) (Paperback) "This new indie author has truly captured the spirit of childhood in his first installment of The Young Mystery Series: The Missing Lunch. I love that Kia and Marcus (the protagonists) are African American siblings helping their friend Dennis find his missing lunch. The book has some twists and turns but nothing too complicated for child readers. It was a fun story with cute and interesting characters, like the Dad who loves to cook and the principal of the school who loves to re-live the old high school football glory days. Kia and Marcus are smart, witty, and bring muscle to their cases when needed. If your kids love to read (as do mine) then this is a great book to read and get acquainted with the characters as there should be more volumes to come. Add it to your child's reading list today!"- Poetry4KDF http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/AE0PRO5LRYU9Y/ref=pdp_new
